Wendy Wacko’s new collection, completed over the past 16 months, was inspired by outdoor studies and travels across Canada, with works created from her Georgian Bay studio and her sanctuary in Jasper, Alberta.

On display September 19 – October 25, 2026, at Agora Gallery in Stratford, Ontario.

The Artist

A journey travelled over the past 50 years as a painter, filmmaker, and gallerist.

A steady evolution from studio practice to cultural mentorship. The work Wendy did as an artist deepened alongside the founding and nurturing of a gallery that grew to include three locations within Fairmont Hotels championing both emerging and established voices.

Together her paintings, Film projects and gallery work reflect a long-term commitment to experimentation , mentorship and building an increasingly meaningful creative practice.

The Legacy

For more than three decades, Wendy Wacko owned and curated Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont in Jasper, building it into one of Western Canada’s most respected fine-art collections. Through her discerning eye and unwavering commitment to excellence, she championed both established and emerging artists, creating a space where creativity and craftsmanship could flourish.

Today, Wacko devotes herself full-time to painting while continuing to nurture the artistic community she helped shape. As a mentor and representative of exceptional and diverse visual artists, she remains deeply engaged in supporting the next generation of Canadian talent — sharing her experience, vision, and enduring passion for the arts.
